MM 17 Sugarloaf Key (A residential area)
You can park at the Sugarloaf Lodge and just across U.S. 1 is a great low traffic bike path with a round trip mileage of approximately 15 miles.

MM 27.8 Middle Torch and Big Torch (A natural area, some houses)
You can park in the gravel along Middle Torch Road just off U.S. 1. Almost no traffic with nine turns, lots of wildlife. Mileage is about 15.5 miles.

Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Housed in a historic Bougainvillea-covered house, this local artists’ co-op is a great place to browse through all types of creative medium (non-profit).

Key West Botanical Garden on Stock Island off College Road on the right side just over the bridge.
This 11-acre, city-owned garden is opened from dawn until dusk and is free to the public. A great place to take a tour, bird watch or just hang out and have a picnic. On Saturday, volunteers are available to answer your questions.

Movies

Cinema Shores Outdoor Movie 510 South St. 296-2941.
A Thursday night tradition brings out droves for an outdoor movie at Atlantic Shores Resort. The movie starts at 8 p.m. admission is $4.00. Free popcorn.

Recreation

MM 37 Bahia Honda State Park Big Pine, 305-872-2353
Open daily at 8:00 a.m. to Sunset. Cost: $1.50 per person for walkers or cyclists; $2.50 per person in a car; and children under six are free. Marina, dive shop, cabins, camping, hiking, picnicking, and bird watching.

Fort Zachary Taylor State Park at the west end of Southard Street, Key West, 305-292-6713.
Open 8 a.m. to sunset. Admission fee is $1.50 per person for walkers or bikers and $2.50 per person in a car. The fort was built between 1845 and 1866. Tours are available. This 87-acre park is great for beach fun, snorkeling and picnics.

Sugarloaf Marina located next to the Sugarloaf Lodge, MM 17, 305-745-3135.
Open daily 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Their great prices include: Bikes for $3 a day, fishing rods for $5 a day, snorkel gear for $8 a day, kayaks for $25 for a half-day, and $35 for a full day and boat ramp fees of $5 per boat. Backcountry charters are also available.

Spend a full day of fun and relaxation and enjoy heated pool, Jacuzzi, kiddie pool, full gym, sand volleyball and basketball. Har-Tru tennis courts available for a fee.

Open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pigeon Key Gift Shop on Knights Key (MM 47), where you board the train to take you down the old Seven Mile Bridge. Of course, there is no better way see the wildlife like tarpon, sharks and stingrays, than by walking the old bridge, plus it’s free. The cost for county residents for a train ride and tour of the old island is $6 for adults and $5 for children ages 7 to 12. Children under seven are free.

On Friday hours are 6:30 a.m. to noon and the pool is open on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Water is heated to 82 degrees and lifeguards are on duty.
